I've come close to succumbing to peer pressure today. But I remained steadfast. NO CHRISTMAS SHOPPING. No sales, no coupons. F-it. It'll all be there next week. Not even on-line. Not even toiletries at Drugstore.com...

Although it's been hard -- I really, really need to go shopping. I'm out of key food groups, I have library books overdue, and dress at work is "business casual" and let's face it, I have a closet that's got t-shirts, Khaki's and chef's coats, a warm-weather and a cold-weather going-to-a-wedding outfit. Two suits (one of which is black so that funerals are covered). Business casual? Augh, so not me. Give me a suit, that's easy -- the jacket and skirt match and I rotate blouses and match pantyhose. Business casual....that's THINKING. And STYLE. And unless I can figure out a way to make Fetch come and live with me (hey, I got two greyhounds...and CIDER) I am way short on Fashion STYLE....she got it all when they separated us at birth.

So, I really need to go to Garanimals For Adult Women (aka, Chico's) and DSW for shoes...but was petrified that someone would think I was out Christmas shopping on Black Friday. I'm going to wait until Sunday, when I can't possibly be accused of falling for the marketing push. Although I might get Cafepress to print me up a t-shirt that says "I am NOT Christmas shopping. I just needed this thing really badly and this was the only day I had free."

Chico's, cool! - I tried to get Ginger Rose to apply for the CIO position there a few years back, but she didn't want to move to Fort Myers. I must admit we're happier up here now. ;-)

I succumbed to shopping, but in an odd way, so I'm ok with it. I wasn't going to shop at all and I almost made it. Then LB&F called and asked if I was available for a Home Depot run and since I didn't have any other plans and I had promised to buy them a cieling fan as a house warming present... There I was at Home Depot buying them a cieling fan. But no Christmas shopping, no how, no way - not today.

I've heard [livejournal.com profile] mistressfetch mention Chicos before but have yet to figure out just where it is.

LOL @ Garanimals for Adult Women.

I forget where you are...but www.chicos.com for locations. Sure, you can buy more stylish stuff there -- a la Fetch. But for the impaired like me, you've got basic black stuff (and it's all the SAME black) and cool funky jackets, overshirts, etc. to add color and the illusion that you would know stylish if nailed you from behind in a crowded house party.

Plus, they send out regular catalogs so that people like me can see how the nonblack stuff is supposed to be matched up. We can just buy the whole OUTFIT. It ain't cheap. But you sign up for a shopping card, get 5% off, keep getting coupons...and there's an outlet in Potomac Mills.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet. Thanks !!!

There's one in Columbia - I'm just down the road in Laurel.

I tend to do a lot of black simply because its one of the few flattering colors on me. It's also automatically accessorized.

Our business casual at works lends itself more to the casual side than the business side ala Old Navy and LL Bean.
