A favorite new thing
Sep. 18th, 2007 10:44 amI am currently loving: the new peeled garlic at Trader Joes. Sure, I use a lot of garlic and I can get most of the way through the large containers at Costco before it gets pickly and not so fresh. (Don't you HATE those morning, when you feel...)
But most folks can't and I'm reduced to sending them to one of the Asian markets where it often comes from China...'nuff said. Or to Whole Foods or Giant, where sometimes they have it, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they have it already roasted, sometimes they have it already pickly and not so fresh.
But this, this is fabulous. Not only is it pre-peeled, and the cloves themselves are fresh and lovely, but they pre-pack them in little envelopes of 3 cloves each for further freshness.
(Yes, the greenie in me is rebelling from all of the wasteful packaging. I'll get over it and walk up to the post office instead of driving there, okay?.)
And no, it's not that hard to peel garlic yourself. But I'm really, really tired of stores only having mummified garlic bulbs or bulbs that are on the verge of sprouting or....and yes, okay, sometimes I'm just lazy! And tired from walking up to the post office.
