Just how hot was it?

Hot enough that I couldn't even spare the energy to complain about it. I know! And I'd be in heaven complaining because they're a Coke property. (Yes, I'd choose Hell if they had the Diet Dew. Plus, that's where all the cool kids go.)

Let's see, scraping for good things to say about the weekend...I was dressed out from 7am to 8pm in that weather and remained upright the entire time. Admittedly, my duties were light -- setting up camp, keep everyone stocked with food, water, pickles, Emergen-C and cold rags, occasional interaction with patrons. But still, a Yankee with Teutonic heritage, I collect incidences of enduring hardships the way a philatelist collects stamps.

I saw some folks I haven't seen a while, but missed many more owing to being primary camp Mom for the weekend...plus there was that salt film over my eyes.

Let me apologize in advance to the Virginia Faire folks. See, I grew up in a school system with an administrator who'd spent most of his life in Maine...so the weather in Connecticut was rarely bad enough for HIM to cancel school. So, I know how obnoxious it's going to feel to hear me say "You think THIS is hot? Put those sleeves back on, this is nothing!" I give you all permission to say to me "You were right. You ARE an a*****e about this."

I stopped myself from taking my bodice to the dry cleaners last week, figuring it might need it after this past weekend -- boy, was I right! And THAT doesn't happen often, that procrastinating about a task proves me right...

I'll stop digging for good now. It's over, that's the best. Really looking forward to the rest of the season; getting out and seeing folks, playing some more.

Hey Meredith,
It's ~kat~ from VARF. Holy Moly, yes it was hot! I was right there with ya, dressed out the whole entire day from gate to gate & no going down. Even with performing a 4:30 show! Saw you from afar on Sunday but no chance to get over there & say hi. Talked briefly with Norm. I think we agree that VARF is good training for this past weekend. Saw a variety of other VARF folks over the weekend, with varying degrees of heat survival success. *whew* Here's hoping for a cooler weekend to come!

Thank you for your highly effective camp mom and nursely services this weekend. I take back most of the horrible things I've said about you. The gherkins saved my life and the strawbs weren't bad either.

At the rate you have to take them back, you must be spending an awful lot of time saying horrible things about me. Perhaps I could suggest a more productive activity for you -- scrubbing the tent mildew, mayhaps? Thank goodness you don't take back EVERYTHING horrible you say about me. Then I would have to feel guilty about assassinating your character every chance I get.
