In case you thought I became graceful...
Sep. 28th, 2011 02:28 pmIt's been a while -- but fear not, it's not a sign of impending gracefulness. Don't take the fact that I danced at a company party and did not fall down, as a sign of physical competence!
Right now I have two large matching bruises on the tops of each of my forearms. I keep forgetting, lay my arms on the top of the table in a meeting room and someone says "Ow, what happened?" And I reply that wrangling pirates is harder than one would think. Which makes everyone chuckle. Or look puzzled.
Because here is the truth: I didn't even get them at the same time, technically, despite the fact that they are indeed the same bruise, caused by the same action.
Which is to the Clumsy Club as a triple word square is to Scrabble.
(Wow, there are fumes coming off of some of your heads. It's been a long time since you had to do an SAT analogy, isn't it?)
Because it is hard enough to get your forearm left behind and somehow stuck in the push-down door handle of an office corridor.
But harder to do it again on the way back.
Or would I lose points because technically speaking, I had practice?
Nah, it hurt like a Expletive-that-Begins-with-a-Consonant-so-I-have-to-use-"a" and one would think that since the pain still had not faded from the first incident, that I would manage to avoid repeating my error.
But when it comes to clumsy, I am not "one".
I am Legion.
