What's that whining sound?
Mar. 27th, 2007 10:58 amNow's the time of year when, pretty much at all times, there's a high pitched whining sound in my head, that occasionally revs up to a screech. It's all the stuff that needs to be done for Virginia Faire, plus oh, I dunno, all of the personal stuff that is being ignored or not dealt with...if you listen carefully, you can even hear my brain chanting the f-word in a low, I'm never gonna get all of this done kind of tone. And my super-ego, not being helpful, as they are wont to do, is asking why the hell I'm doing this.
So I'm gonna indulge in some mental imaging to settle me:
Saturday, during rehearsal, the site swarming with cast and crew. A cast that's almost doubled in size, new folks full of enthusiasm and ideas, veterans refreshed and with renewed commitment. Crew building a new and improved bar in the pub tent; cast and crew banding together to tackle brush and overgrowth. People not only volunteering ideas, but volunteering to tackle it themselves.
So many entertainers booked that we have to build another stage to put them on. Angels dropping off lumber and sawdust and paint. A construction angel who's going to build us a proper main stage base that can be added onto post-season to create "real" stage. And free up our own dear site manager to work on all of the other things we really need: benches instead of hay bales; fencing, signs, the smaller stages, etc. Whee!
We're gonna have a Faire!
Now, back to the list of a thousand and one things to do so that last line ain't a lie....
