Why retail people are often crabby...
Mar. 23rd, 2007 08:46 amI know I'm on a theme here, but I swear to you, the Banana story is almost ten years old and something I wrote up after it happened because I wanted to always remember it.
Just yesterday, I'm helping my neighbors out by covering their store; their day person is out recovering from surgery...and retail IS like riding a bicycle, you never lose the skill, although you quickly remember how road rash feels.
The phone rings about 10:30 in the morning and without thinking about it, I answer "Good Afternoon, Store Name, How can I help you?"
And the man on the other end of the line says "Well, actually, it's still morning."
I was almost sick and crabby enough: "Well, then, I'll hang up on you then, sir, because I only help people in the afternoon. DID YOU CALL FOR A REASON, sir, or just to BUST MY A**?"
But Superego came to the resuce. "Ha, ha, right, sorry to rush the day, what can I do for you?"
My Superego is a superhero. Really. She just needs a cape.
