Let someone merge ahead of you today.

Even if they planned poorly. Even if they were an expletive-deleted and zoomed as far up the "this lane ending" area as possible. Show your contempt by waving them ahead of you. Because you are too cool to be bothered with such childish behavior. Because you know that the 13 seconds this guy has shaved off his commute is not going to keep him from being congenitally late and sooner or later they will can his a**, but you showed mercy.

However, since I believe in strict mercy boundaries: you may verbally abuse the expletive-deleted to whom you offer the merge, but he/she is too busy on the cell phone, slowed by needing to remember "gas on the right, brake on the left", or is otherwise mentally wandering in another space-time continuum. May I apologize in advance if it's me. I've just become inured to the rude b**tards with whom I share the road and never would have expected kindness.

Now if they've come to the top (or end) of their merge ramp and come to a complete stop this doesn't apply does it?

Traffic lights are The Great Equalizer.

It gives me such pleasure to pull up to a red light and see that someone who has been weaving around and driving like a dick is stuck there, a mere car length or two ahead. Especially when I'm driving on one of those roads that's riddled with traffic lights, so I know that he won't get very far ahead no matter how he or she tries.

I always yell out "Oh, I guess they didn't put signal lights on cars that year"..They never get it though :-(
