So, let me get this straight. My nail clippers are a hazard...if I bring any liquids on the plane, they have to be of a certain size and packaged in a certain way...I have to take off my shoes to go through security...but...

CNN reports that a Vermont man was bitten by a scorpion while flying on a commercial plane.

Oh. But venomous pets are okay.

Unless they're bigger than three ounces and then they have to be sealed in a clear quart-sized locking bag with no more than three pin- sized airholes.

(Note: it wasn't actually a pet, it just snuck on board, the flight originating in Houston.)

We do not know at this time whether the scorpion was asked to remove its shoes before boarding or not.

More likely he was stung...with a stinger, not bit with a mouthpart.
This is why I have no friends.
Still...'"Sir, is there anything we can do to make your trip more comfortable?"
"Could I have fewer scorpian stings, please?"', is not a great conversation to be having on a plane.

No, it's why only people like me are friends with you. Because I know what pedipalps and telsons are...

That's just our New England showing -- we're not so retentive about being bitten or stung...you get stung by a horsefly and bitten by a wasp, which is anatomically incorrect, well, unless the latter is in all capitals...but I'm pretty sure the behavior mod has worked for me. It's been a long time since any...incidents.

I've been bitten by WASPS. It can be unpleasant or not. It is situationally dependent.
And any date that involves the word "pedipalps" is...unusual.
