I'm so sorry, those of you who were enjoying 94.7 The Globe. Once again, by the mere act of watching/listening to a station/show, I have killed it. Oh, it's still there, except of course, now it's the all-Pink Floyd, all the time station.

Okay, I exaggerate. But really, I only listen to it driving to and from work, which is a whopping hour a day, maybe a touch more. And since they "altered" their format a week or two ago, that means at least one PF song in each direction. Plus a whole host of hoary classic rock oldies that really, my ears can do without.

Gah. They're going to make me learn to use my iPod....

I'll just add it to the list of other shows/things I've killed -- WHFS, Firefly, Carnivale, Deadwood, Arrested Development, Rome, Freaks and Geeks, the alt-rock station in CT and all of those other ones who've faded from memory...

I thought I had killed it by moving up and enjoying it. Suckitude. I got here, went "oooohh! radio that doesn't bite!" and then WHAMMO. So sad.

The WHFS curse in the area - nobody who listens to that format listens to the radio, 'cause once WHFS started to suck (according to my brother), everybody switched to mp3/ipods already.

so now any station that tries to pick up that market gap (94.7 when they stopped being the 24x7 Led Zepplin station) finds that there's no audience, 'cause it's already gone to iPod or satellite (where there are *4* rock stations on XM that cater to different shades of that audience).

it's a lost cause here and has been for years, only 94.7 never actually noticed. 'til now.

Nope, that one's all YOUR fault. I can and will take the heat for crushing the U.S. Distribution for Aqua Libre...and Fetch and I may have to share the blame for K cider vanishing from Maryland, although I'm not giving up hope on that yet.

I don't remember the call letters...I just remember being so psyched to find HFS in MD, since radio in CT/RI sucked, unless you were standing in just the right place, holding the tinfoil crucifix that honed in on the college station. And it was the right time of day for cool music...

And then several years later, on a visit back up there running across an HFS sister station playing up in CT -- hey, I could move back!

But that's gone now, too.....

Oddly enough, they've always had those ads on...but I was willing to let that go in exchange for not getting repetitive stress injuries from changing stations.

This morning, without realizing it, I managed to get through three songs before it got ugly -- U2, Bowie and Tom Petty. Okay, I don't really like Petty, but I'm not going to break a finger changing stations, as I am wont to do for Led Zeppelin, Hendrix or any of the other moldy oldy screaming guitar-laden classic rock. Then it was either ads or jackasses on all the other stations, so I got lost in Johnny Flynn. (Er, his music.)
