I will only go so far in any corporation of any size because I can not generate e-mail headers like this:
"Collection of Alternative Communication Methods for Business Continuity Planning" in which I simply ask people for their home/cell phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
I would type "Contact information needed for Contingency Planning" and instead of three paragraphs explaining the project, the collection methods, the security planning....with fancy fonts, etc.
I would write "I need to have your phone, cell and e-mail so that we can have a current list in case of emergencies. This will not be widely distributed, but given only to supervisors on a need-to-know basis. I must have it by Friday. If you change it in the future, you must let me know asap. Thanks."
I also would have delegated this to human resources, since they already have a working database with this info, my first question being "why is this my job?"
But that's just me. Treasured when you want to get something done efficiently. Hidden away from those whose sensibilities might be offended by abruptness.
