We totally get hosed in Montgomery County when it comes to Booze. I hates it and usually cross county lines, just out of principle.

But I also hate when I'm out of cider, have a limited amount of time to resolve the situation and have to decide whether I can convince myself that Woodchuck isn't as sweet as I remember it.

But Gilly's has opened in Rockville: http://www.gillyscbfw.com/

Don't go today if you're looking for Strongbow, because I just wiped them out and it will take a couple of days to get it back in. They're trying to normally stock Woodchuck (it's not that it's bad, just too sweet for me. Most things are too sweet for me) Scrumpy, Strongbow, Original Sin, K (!) and Ace.

Of course, it being Montgomery County, and them being at the mercy of the LCB...they haven't been able to get anything but Chuck and Scrumpy in, and Strongbow just recently.

They also have a neat sandwich selection, some very nice cheeses, a really fab collection of beers and...bestill my beating heart, are right next to Urban BBQ, my favorite local BBQ joint. So, I can take care of all of my joneses at once. (If I stop at Giant and grab some DMD, I suppose.)

Get on their mailing list, patronize them, special order stuff. They really want to be more than a deli that sells lottery tickets. If you live locally and are unhappy with your current purveyor of beer/wine/cider, this is your chance. You may feel powerless regarding the upcoming election or the economy in general -- but this is where your "vote" can actually count. Where you spend your money determines what kind of businesses you want in your community, so vote for a family-run business that believes in quality and choice.

There! Now, I'll get down from my soapbox, er, case of cider, now.
