Yes, well, if my title language isn't careful, I'll get stuck behind a "humans not wearing clothes and doing things to the openings in their body" filter.

Changing behavior is hard. And I’m a posterchild. You know I have a “thing” about wasting bags. And I own a bunch of perfectly good re-usable bags. And they sit in the car, mocking me as I get up to the cashier stand, start unloading and say “Damn it! I left my bags in the car!”

I mean, here’s something that’s very important to me; something I’m a champion of, and I struggle, struggle, struggle with a simple thing like remembering to bring in the damn bags. If I’m smart and motivated…no wonder it’s painfully hard for the great unwashed masses. (Yes, I know, I managed to insult directly and indirectly a lot of people with that cliché. I probably didn’t insult enough…)

I can sometimes remember if it’s the weekly big grocery shop…but the little trips into PetsMart or just picking up a few things…that I keep forgetting.

So, I’m using the tool that, as a WASP, I’m genetically susceptible to: shame.

Yes, that’s me, packing as much as possible into as few bags as possible, carrying anything that can possibly be carried, the one bag ripping as I head across the parking lot, chasing oranges and cans of cat food underneath moving vehicles, trying to keep the Diet MD case tucked in one armpit, the toilet paper in the other one, the box of Milkbones tucked between my knees…

Go ahead, laugh, point, SHAME me…it’s the only way I’ll learn.
